New King James Version (NKJV)
Idols and the True ‘God’ [‘Elohiym]
10 Hear the word which the ‘Lord’ [Name, Word and Works, of Israel’s ‘Elohiym, YHWH] speaks to you, O house of Israel. 2 Thus says the ‘Lord’ [Name, Word and Works, of Israel’s ‘Elohiym, YHWH]:
“Do not learn the way of the Gentiles;
Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven,
For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are futile;
For one cuts a tree from the forest,
The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
4 They decorate it with silver and gold;
They fasten it with nails and hammers
So that it will not topple.”
Strong’s Hebrew Lexicon:
G-d: אֱלֹהִים ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem’; plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:—angels, × exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), × (very) great, judges, × mighty.
‘Jesus’ (YH’shua): יְהוֹשׁוּעַ Yᵉhôwshûwaʻ, yeh-ho-shoo’-ah; or יְהוֹשֻׁעַ Yᵉhôwshuʻa; from H3068 and H3467; ‘Jehovah’-[YH] saved[-s]; Jehoshua (i.e. Joshua), the Jewish leader:—Jehoshua, Jehoshuah, Joshua. Compare H1954, H3442. https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3091/kjv/wlc/0-1/
Significance of the Name of the ‘Elohiym of Israel:
YHWH (YH) (the ‘I AM’):
“Moses says: May I say who sent me? He asks for ‘God’s‘ [‘Elohiym’s] name. The Israelites will want to know who has sent me, and ‘God’ [‘Elohiym] replies with a sentence, “Ehyeh asher ehyeh.” This is a first person sentence that can be translated, “I am who I am”, or perhaps, “I will be who I will be,”.. The name that is what the Creator does! The Name that calls us to be /do as the Creator is or does.
May it be so in YH’shua.
May, “YHWH bless you and keep you!” Numbers 6: 24-26.
